What's up with the Boy Scout knife prices on E-Bay? Last week I saw a new unused four blade Scout folder go for $80.95 and a five blade Scout Deluxe folder go for $157.50, NIB. Did I miss something here? Some of these knives are still in stock if you look for them, I have.

I only recently been buying knives on eBay and I'm not sure there is a logical explanation that would account for the prices people are willing to pay for items. Earlier this year someone bid over $700.00 for a particular type of bayonet although others like it have sold in the $150.00 to $200.00 range recently.
I have a couple of Camillus cowboy character knives in the "Riders of the Silver Screen Series" and have seen one sell for over $100.00 that depicted "Tonto" and the same seller sold another depicting "Dale Evans" for less than $37.00 within minutes of each other.
I recently won a bid for a Camillus Boy Scout large lockback and I got it for a very good price:

People went through a similar cycle shortly after Schrade closed its doors. People thought every Schrade was an instant collector item. Some are, most were either made for a very long time span or were simply not that popular, then or now. I suspect the same with Camillus. 6-12 months from now you will see the prices come down some and stabilize.

I think Eyegor is right, having watched Schrade prices spike upwards for a while, and then more or less settle down.

But a boy scout knife will attratract two different groups of collectors. Those that collect scouting memorabilia and those that collect cutlery. To put this in Camillus terms, watch one of the old Babe Ruth knives and check what the bidders seem to specialize in. You will find Baseball and Ruth collectors vs knife people. Same with Ted Williams 'signed' knives. At least that has been my experience.

I have an old camillus scout knife,4 blade pattern, in good/used condition. Its about 20 years old. It was my first knife, when I was in scouts. I don't plan on ever parting with it but would kind of like to know what it would be worth now a days. Can anyone help me out.
