Anybody had any experience with the camillus buckmaster lockbacks, kind of a modern/tac look w/zytel scales, carbon steel blade. Are they worth checking out? I'm partial to the more traditional knives but they looked interesting
Thanks!

anybody know if these were made in the US or offshore are they a decent knife? anybody...
thanks!

I have one with a 3" blade
It says NEW YORK USA on tang
It seems ok...haven't had it long enough to really test it out
Looks cool though
Sorta like a Buck 442

Trent,
thanks i was beginning to think nobody cared (ha!)
i may pick one up, they are priced pretty decent, not crazy about the blade etch/graphic but i may be able to polish that off.

I was thinking the same
I'll prolly leave it though
Adds "character" as "they say"......;)
I can sit and stare at a knife for hours wondering about the character
Who was the 1st owner?Where did he live? How come he let it get rusty in that one spot? How did he get that dent in the handle?
Gotta "read the knife"!!!! Says BRL!!!!!

I know how you feel about no one caring
I got a post in the Kershaw section regarding Kershaw hatchets that has no love for Trent.............................
Hehhehehehehe
Maybe once I get my GOLD status I will command more respect

gold status might work, i prefer to just scream louder, or repost, etc.:D
is the buckmaster up to snuff as far as quality goes, i mean with the rest of camillus' knives, what am i worrying about, just order the damn thing already:D

Well
The blade has no wobble
The blade feels THINNER than a Buck 442
(i can't really get into the 440A, AUS-3, 1025, G-10, Micarta,440HC, "gotta dip it in water...", etc stuff cause I'm still learning it)
The spring is strong
The knife is lightweight like a Buck Lite..................

It came in a "lot" of knives I bought so it really only cost me a few dollars
I was like you...didn't really like the deer picture
It's kinda starting to grow on me now
The grip feels good too.................

yeah i may just pick one up, camillus stuff is getting harder to find/more expensive by the day, kinda depressing:mad:

If you're looking at a Buckmaster lockback, make sure its a Camillus not the Camco imported version made just before the company went under. The Camco version is marked PRC- people's republic of china. Not close to the quality of the US made original IMO.

yeah ive seen those but these are the camillus made in the USA not really my type of knife, but what the hell, also thinking about a sizzle saw them priced nice too, the more traditional stuff is either sold out or priced pretty steep. I'll keep scouring the fleamarkets

IIRC, the camillus buckmaster lockbacks were stainless. However, Camillus made some very similar knives for Cold Steel several years ago in their "Carbon V", with slightly different blade, shapes, too.
