Camillus by Ontario?

I just saw some Ontarios up on New Graham that have me a bit confused:

They're the Blaze/Sizzle/Heat models that used to be made by Camillus. With the news of Acme United picking up the Camillus intellectual property, I'm wondering just how this is. If Ontario ended up with the rights to these, it seems to suggest Acme didn't get the rights to everything. Is there a chance we'll be seeing some old Camillus designs made by other US companies (other than the rumored Kabar Beckers)?

Anybody know if these Ontario models are being made in the US?

Those certainly look identical to the Heat and Sizzle that I own. Even if Ontario would have bought the rights to that line of knives, there is no way they could have gotten them made and for sale so quick. I know on my knives it says they are a D. Ralph Design, so maybe Mr. Ralph got the rights back to his design earlier this year and then shopped around and got it made my Ontario? I really have no idea, but that is about all I can think of.

Well, I just got an email reply from Darrel Ralph and he confirmed that Ontario is now making the knives that he designed and Camillus sold as the Heat, Sizzle and Blaze. I didn't ask him where they were being made and Ontario Knives doesn't appear to have the knives listed on their site.

I just got a Camillus Sizzle and I just ordered the Ontario Heat with the 'safety'. I'll try to post pics when the Heat comes in. The Camillus says "Made In Taiwan". I'll report back on the Ontario.

Just when I was getting interested in Camillus they have to go out of business.

Makes me happy I didn't procrastinate when I was shopping for my Dominator last year, but I did blink with the "Aftermath" and now I'm kicking myself.

Regarding the new Heat, some of the pictures I've seen shows a knife with a slightly different design than the pics on New Graham's site, also I've read somewhere that the new ones are made in mainland China.

They've got the coated CE versions of that one on NGK. What's the button, is that a safety or a lock disengage?

I just saw an ebay pic of the reverse of the knife with the G10 inserts, it's stamped Taiwan.

Yes it's a safety lock....

I have the Camillus version and if it's anything like that one it should be a great knife.

Could someone who have both make a quick comparative review?

I really like my camillus heat and would like to get a backup since my first has a black combo blade :P (noob mistake, it was the first good knife I bought).

One thing I immediately noticed - When it's my stuff, I'm an unstoppable knob-dicker; I took my new Ontario Heat apart and saw that one brass bushing was quite a bit thicker than the other. It's just barely noticeable when the knife is together, but I think it was done this way to make room for the safety mechanism.

Yep this is normal. I took my Camillus apart to clean it. If you invert them, the knife doesn't open/close properly.
