My father just gave me a brand new Camillus stockman to sharpen. It has "C-2" stamped on the blade, "Camillus, New York USA" on the opposite side. Seems pretty standard with black jigged plastic handle slabs w/oval Camillus shield.
He wants me to really thin out the edge & polish the blades, but I am hesitant due to the demise of Camillus. I certainly don't feel this is a rare knife, I simply know nothing about it.
My primary query is just simple info about the knife itself, as in what does "C-2" represent, when was this model produced if possible (approx. of course) and any other misc. info., est. value, etc.
Thanks,

The knife you describe is one of many different variations Camillus used to use up excess parts. The blade in question was originally used for the C-2 stockman. I believe originally part of the cartridge series. The knife is a user, that's for sure. I wouldn't be concerned over collector's value.

Does the knife have a shield on the handle that looks like the bottom of a 30-06 shell? If it does, then the knife should be a stockman knife from the classic cartridge series from the early 1990s.It would have delrin handles also, they probably won't ever be worth much, but who knows.I've seen them trade on ebay for $20-$30.
