I was looking at the Carnivore today. Anybody own one? What do you think? I know it won't be BK3 quality, but it is "cheaper" cost wise.

Thoughts?

Wow--I knew it was a piece of crap but I didn't realize it was THAT BAD of a piece of crap! :D What an awful tang design.

Wow, I came in here expecting a trainwreck, and that's what I got... Kinda sad, really.
I noticed while watching the video, that the screw holes weren't even centered in the (way too narrow) tang. Talk about underengineered :(

Well, I went back and decided to get the Gerber Gator Jr. It was WAY better quality and the non slip grip sold me. I will be buying a BK3 or a Condor in the near future.

Rubber grips, I find, tend to rub uncomfortably during extended use due to the pivoting action of the saddle grip used with a machete.

Anyone else tired of these old songs critical of Camillus knives? "They don't have their own factory anymore." "Their products are not made in the U. S. anymore." Probably true, but neither does Apple Computer and I hear they make some knockout products.

I have used a Camillus Carnivore for over a year now and I am very happy with it. It is so versatile I'm not always sure what to call it. It's a machete, and it's a long camping knife. If you are trailblazing through the woods, this is what you need. It whacks and chops through brush and trees. If you are only going to carry two knives camping, this should be one of them. It smashes, pries, digs, and cuts with ease. And on top of that, it's a terrific value. How much did you overpay for a different brand?
Camillus isn't a company anymore. They went under and someone bought the name. Just like what happened with Schrade.

Troll Alert - 2 of this guy's 3 known posts are identical in two separate threads.

Apple products don't have tons of videos of their computers and iPods breaking in the EXACT SAME PLACE due to poor design either. Same can't be said for the Carnivore.
