We'll get a photo of this knife in the near term.

I bought this at a knife/gun show, Portland OR, circa 1998. It's about 4" closed, 1/8" thick flat-sheet steel scales textured/embossed with a cross hatching. "U.S.M.C." stamped into an "emblem area" on the scale. Painted or finished in black. Stainless lock back clip blade. I was told by a Camillus representative that this was a spec prototype designed for the military, but that the military never picked up the contract.

I like to snap up limited production runs, discontinued models.

Like the top two only in black?

It's a Camillus 893. Same texture finish on the scales, but the shape is more squared at the ends, no bail. Single, clip point blade.

Google has photos:

vit,
Basically, you are right. It is exactly like the 891 except for the handle. Once again, this model was made to use up extra parts.

Vitali,

Rick R has said it all.
We had a lot of parts for the Promaster double & triple lock backs left over.
This was just another (clumsy) attempt to use them up!
