Greetings, I am interested in the Camillus Close Quarters Battle Knife. I will be taking this knife with me as I hike on the AP Trail. I want the sheath that has varied carry positions, G-10 type handles, 154-Ast34- like metal. I know everyone has a personal favorite to carry, so I would love to hear about anything that you believe would be superior to the Camillus. The cost of the Camillus is about $155.00. Thanks

That one is going to be hard to beat especially at that price. The CCQB is a real sleeper.

I have 4 various large CQB's and one junior model. All the large satin knives are 154CM (one of my favorites steels), the large black blade is some kind of high carbon steel (I think, blade is not marked) and the junior is ATS-34. I think it is one one of the finest, and toughest fixed blades ever made. Great knife for just about anything including survival, game cleaning, food prep, self-defense (one of the best made for SD), and just about anything else you can think of. I have plain and combo blades in black and satin. The blade is long enough that you get a fair about of cutting edge even with a combo blade so that is what I would recommend. The serrations will continue to cut long after the plain edge is dull.

Use some para-cord and lash it to anything using the holes in the Kydex sheath. If you want a cordura sheath with a pouch, I'm sure there is one out there that would fit. The handle material is canvas micarta, not G-10. The tang is grooved on bottom, top-rear and thumb for a great grip. The handle is designed to prevent one's hand from slipping onto the blade. I have morst of the popular fixed blades and several small customs. If I could only pick one knife, this would be THE knife. It's not talked about on the forum but in my opinion, it's one fantastic knife and very much underrated. As "Usub" said, "it's a real sleeper". You will not be dissappointed.

Don't use paracord to lash yur knife or it will come lose and you willl lose it.
Zip ties work much better.

How do you delete a post after it has been posted and been on the forum for a long while? Is it possible?

One does have to know how to tie proper knots. I've lashed plenty of equipment with paracord (alpine cord) and never lost anything. I will admit that zip ties are the stonger but a big pain if one wants to take the knife on and off ones backpack for dayhikes and such. Just be careful, however you do it. You can also use the TekLok to snap over straps. A technique which I have also used.
