Camillus Cuda EDC steel

The original EDC was 420HC. I have 2 of them. Then Camillus made some with 154cm. After that they made it in Taiwan with AUS-8.

And, just for some added info, A.G. Russell offered the knife in a limited run with D2.

When the Camillus site was still up, it was always listed as AUS-8. I dont think they make the 420HC versions anymore. Well, I guess they dont make "any" versions now :(

I happen to have one of the a g russell D2 cuda's combo edge.its a nice little knife.

Yes it is!

I have one with the 154CM blade. I love the knife; the design and quality are excellent.

But it's just a bit too small and slightly too heavy for me to EDC.

I bought 1 of the first ones, with 420HC blade, and 2 of the 125th Anniversary EDC's with 154CM blades, I believe.

If you are looking for a 154 cm one I may know of one available. Let me know if interested. I may even know of a D2 one that is available.

I'd much rather have one made at the Camillus plant of the original 420HC with a proper heat treatment than the later Taiwan version I had made of AUS8A. The AUSA8A is ostensibly a better steel (and usually one of my favorites), but the heat treatment is inadequate to say the least. It feels "gummy" when you try to sharpen it (like ATS-34 that is too soft) and it's difficult to get a truly sharp edge at all, much less worry over edge "retention."

I agree about the Camillus 420HC used in the original EDC. I've been suprised by how well it has performed.
