This looks to be another big winner for Camillus. What a great-looking knife!

I still hope we will eventually see a 4" Maxx production model, but I have no complaints about this second entry in the line. Now I just have to come up with some cash for the order...

I do have one question:

Can anyone tell me whether the Maxx Stiletto is truly double-edged or just beveled and not sharpened on the top?

Merry Christmas to everyone at Camillus! :)

B,
The secondary edge is NOT sharpened, as it would pose a hazard in the pocket. The top edge rides above the frame in the closed position. It is, however an awesome penetrator;)

Not a bad looking knife. Now that this project is done how 'bout that 4" EDC. ;)

I checked the sites of three dealers listed in the email to compare prices but didn't see the Stiletto pictured nor mentioned. Is there a special order procedure?

I just placed my order with Roger at Bayou for one of these. He says they will not ship until the 27th and I take that to mean ship from Camillus to him. It is indeed a gorgeous looking piece. I had an original DDR with the clip point but not with the fullered dagger style. Looking forward to it. :D :)

Wow - I do like that knife!
Hmmm...I'm pulling an OT shift on New Years Eve...that'll be extra $$$ in the kitty...yep, I can see this one happening!:D

Hi all. I'm new to the forums and not quite sure of the appropriate protocols, so I'll just forge ahead ...
...How does the CUDA MAXX open??? Does one simply push against the thumb stud or is it possible to flick your wrist and "snap" the blade into the locked open position?? Also, do I understand correctly that it locks open with a liner lock??
Thanks for your time and consideration.

Da Boatsaylor (Really liked "Geode's" term, "sheeple". Quite a few of my colleagues fall into that category.

If you're in a hurry just flick the upper flipper with your index finger to start the blade opening then flick your wrist to complete the process. With a bit of practice you can draw and open the Maxx just as fast as you can draw it without opening.

For a more sedate and controlled approach open it just like you would with a thumb stud, but use your thumb to push on the lower flipper. The "thumb studs" on the Maxx aren't really designed as openers; they are there to stop the blade in the full-open and full-closed positions.

The lock on the Maxx is mechanically identical to a liner lock, but it is a frame lock. A section of the titanium frame springs inward to block the back of the blade in the open position. Given the design of the lock and the thickness of the frame the Maxx has an extremely strong lock!

Bob,
Many thanks Sir, for your prompt and informative response. Gives me a much better feel for the operation of the piece. Certainly think that I want to add the stiletto to my collection.

Glad to help!

If you like the Maxx half as much as I do you'll be very happy. :D I have one of each type and they are both amazing.
