I hope it is ok to ask this question here. I have a couple of Cuda Maxxs'. With Camillus out of business, are they worth hanging onto as collectibles? Thanks for any info.

I had an Aftermath and a Gibbs 7.0 a couple years ago. They now sell for much more then I had invested in them. I would hold onto them if I were you.

they are worth some $$ nowadays...........though imho you would have to be retarded to pay $600 for one, or even $400 i have seen raplh custom maxx's go for $450 or so and they are a lot nicer better fitted and finished knife, and yes i have had several of both.

They are definitely collectible.

Study eBay to get the best price if that's what you're after. SIFU1A is right, though, for that kind of money you can get the Darrel Ralph custom. I wouldn't go over $300 for the Camillus no matter how hungry I was for it, but there are people on eBay who don't know the market and will overpay.

I wouldn't mind seeing the production line resurrected. They are just really good working knives.

Thanks to all for the info. Lately I have been selling a number of large fixed blades to help feed baby boy (at six months he eats like a linebacker), but am hanging onto my large folders. From my few posts, one knows I LOVE my large folders. The Maxx series is great- I actually have 3. The only fixed blades I am fond of is a Schraade I bought years ago and a "hunting set" I picked up in Argentina years ago when they were having their financial crisis, a handmade, beautiful set.

I love the look of the Cuda Maxx. That was one of the knives I was looking at when I first really started getting into knives nearly two years ago. I settled on a Spyderco Dragonfly because I didn't want to pay the 120$ price tag I was seeing on eBay at the time, for the two or three that I saw in a month long period. I'm kind of kicking myself for that now, although the blade is much longer than what I've discovered really works for me.

FWIW i very much prefer the stilletto to the bowie, in both the custom and production versions, mostly due to aesthetics, i just think they look "cooler" lol, i suppose the bowie might be a little better for some stuff but i never thought of the maxx as a utility knife anyway, i do remember one forum member yrs ago who used one every morning at his health club to spread jelly and cream cheese on his bagel which i would think would have raised an eyebrow or 2...........

they are good knives though, cammilus did a great job with them, the F&F on them wasnt too far from the customs, and as far as the design goes man they were close, very close to one another, in design and material, price wasnt bad either, i liked 'em enough i got a couple of the custom specimens and still have them but i sold/swapped off my cammilus ones, which i kinda regret now.
