Camillus custom shop

JOCKO,
As you know, we have been working on a few small "runs" of special TALON's in the past. Remember the special ones you saw last year at the State Fair? We are starting up waht we are calling the CAMILLUS CUSTOM SHOP, that will be utilizing the talents of the existing CAMILLUS "model shop". These are the guys that finish out special presentation knives and prototypes for us at the plant. We are starting the CUSTOM SHOP concept small, but we have big plans ;)

We have done the first couple of short "runs" fromthe custom shop, 50 pieces of stag TALONS and Mini TALONS for AG RUSSELL, and 25 pieces of sheep horn TALONS that we sold at the BLADESHOW and to our dealers. All of the knives were numbered, dated[with the year], and featured nice leather sheaths. The knives for AG had awesome leather sheaths by Kenny Rowe, and the sheep horn run had sheaths of Cape Buffalo leather that is really striking.

Our plans are to slowly feel our way into this market, but so far reception has been strong! We will continue to offer short runs of approx. 25 pieces, with special handles and sheaths. These knives also are finished to a higher standard, with LOTS of hand work involved. Our plans are to contiue with the TALON as the basis for the time being. We will see how things go, and probally branch out into customizing more models next year. Let me state for the record that we ARE NOT in a position to accept "one of a kind orders" at this point. We may get to that point sometime in the future, but we are nowhere near it now. We are somewhat limited in the amount of time that the guys in the model shop/custom shop can devote to the project.

We are looking at 1 more 25 piece run of TALONs and MiniTALONs this year. I will announce what the handle material will be soon. The knives that the Custom Shop has produced so far are beautiful, and well worth their "custom shop" prices. I believe that the Custom Shop will expand next year to include more models available, and you will hear about it here first, on the CAMILLUS FORUM.

Thanks for your interest!

Sorry for the big pic.

Will,
Thanks for the info on the Custom shop. How about the names of the people who produce these masterpieces.

Will,

I would like to propose a Talonite EDC with the same handle treatment as the Anniversary EDC as a future Custom Shop Project.

The craftsmen in the CUSTOM SHOP are Mr. Wally Rockwell and Mr. Perry Lozano. They both extremely talented knifemakers in their own right. We will look at slowly expanding the offerings from them through the custom shop, as time permits.

Jason and SDouglas,
We will be concentrating on short runs of customized TALON's and MiniTALON's for awhile in the custom shop. We MAY look at the EDC sometime in the future. If you want a Ti framed EDC, your best bet is to call Darrel ;)

Thanks for the interest!

Jason! You're getting a custom version of this anyway :)

The custom shop is a great idea and I sincerely hope it expands to someday include customer specific modifications.

Will, are you going to be at the fair this year? If so, where will you be setting up?

CAMILLUS will be at the the fair this year, like always! I will not be in town, but other folks from the plant will be manning the booth. They will be set up in the same place as the last 3 years, the "Center of Progress" building. Come on by, and thanks for the interest!

Will,
I would love to see the Camillus Custom Shop really take off. Sort of what Buck has done with their Pete's Custom Shop. Pick one from column A,one from column B etc. etc. etc.
On line ordering and pricing with all the options listed. I know I would use this service.
Good Collecting
Jocko
