camillus 'demo ' steel

Hi i just picked up a 1969 camillus demo knife for $3 bucks at a yard sale . Has a broken off tip so its going to be carried . Sharpening took along long time with my pocket stone so i was wondering what steel its made from ?? its stainless i know

From what I understand, stainless wasn;t very good quality back in those days, which is one of the reasons they have such an inferior reputation even to today among many. Now they make stainless that can almost go toe to toe with Carbon, but not back then.
