Pulled this one out of the closet with the intentions of selling it. I thought I would fix it up a bit by adding some bronze washers and a deep pocket carry clip. When I got through with it I decided that I would carry it instead! The lockup is excellent on this one with about 1/4th of the blade tang being covered by the lock. Blade is completely solid with no movement, and best of all.........the blade is completely centered when closed! :D :D :D

Anyone else have the tanto Dom? If so what's your thoughts on it...if you don't have one but you have thoughts on it, well post those.

Artsig1, I have the regular Dominator and have been quite happy with it. I agree, if you like the tanto style blade, KEEP IT. For a number of reasons, this is the fifth Dominator I have had, but the blade has never been centered. On a couple of previous knives, I have tried to but the bronze washers in and it has usually made centering worse. I have taken this one apart or adjusted the pivot, because on the other knives it always has gone together worse than if I left it alone, but I would like to use the bronze washers. My question is, how did you get the blade centered? Did you just end up being lucky on your first try, or did you have to adjust screw tension to get it centered and still fire properly? Any suggestions would be most appreciated since the more I use this one, the more the blade gets off center and it is starting to bother me. Thanks, Richard

Actually the blade was centered from the factory and putting in bronze washers did not cause it to become off centered. I used the bronze washers from Knifekits and they were of the same thickness. Could you be using washers of the different thickness? I've always centered a blade by applying pressure to the blade and pushing it towards the side it is off centered. This usually does the trick, and then I'll tighten it slightly and presto-whamo I have a centered blade. Sometimes though a blade will not center regardless of what you try. I had a MAXX that would not center at all, with teflon, or bronze washers.

I have an original Dominator and it's the closest thing to a Sebenza I have seen come out of the major manufacturer's.

From a technical aspect it's as good as the Sebenza, from fit and finish standpoint it's not there, but to me funtionality is most important.

The thing I like about it the most (better than a Seb) is that the lock bar does not budge under cutting pressure. This is one of my pet peeves about frame locks, lockup looks good and then cut a rope and the lock bar has slid all the way to the other side.

I use mine a lot while working in my woodshop because it's a simple one handed flick when I need it.

Mine was acceptable right out of the box, no need for change although I have toyed with the idea of a deep carry clip.

Artsig1, I used the washers from knifekits, the same thickness as the originals. Blade centering doesn't bother me to much, but it is getting closer to the off side handle. I know I can send it back to Camillus, but I have done this several times and don't like being without the knife for that long. Thanks.

Had mine two days now. So far, so good. Is the washer swap-out a difficult process? What's involved?

Hey LJ. Not really difficult. It takes a couple of the smallest bronze washers that www.knifekits.com offers. Just remove the three screws holding the handles together and then remove the pivot. Once apart I would clean up everything, polish the washers as best as you can, put it all back together adding new lubricant.....i use Tuff-Glide or Miltec, both available from many sources. In fact Knifekits may have some. Let us know if you do and how it turns out.

I just bought one on Nov. 15 or so, and I love it. Best knife i own. Solid lock up, perfectly centered, razor sharp, not to mention S30V, titanium etc. Very wonderful, tanto, and combo edge, I love it.
