Still trying to decide. Save a lot with the EDC or the pride of owning a Sebenza? Tough Choice!

It has to last FOREVER as an EDC, hunting knife, hard use folder, office carry, ect.
Any other suggestions for 4 in. metal handled folders would be great!

The Camillus EDC is a screaming bargain for what you get. The Sebenza is an
expensive bargain for what you get.

Based on the criteria you noted I'd suggest the Camillus EDC. Sebenza owners will
chime in with a different take sooner or later, but remember how many knives can you
buy for $325+ when sooner or later you will most likley loose the knife you are
carrying. Nothing , no matter the cost, last forever. Nothing.

The Camillus is very good knife from an old American company that will do everything
the Sebenza will except have snob appeal or be expensive. Besides who besides the owner
cares how much a knife cost?? It had better cut , that's all. Go for the Camillus, it's the better
deal of the two.

I have one Sebenza and four versions of the Camillus EDC.The Sebenza in an excellent knife and even though I have not brought myself to carry it yet,I want a decorated one in my collection. The Camillus EDC is a great knife at a bargin price.I have no second thoughts about carrying any of them. If you decide on the Camillus , don't forget about the talonite version.

Do you know how many EDC's you can buy for the price of the Sebenza?

The owners of a Sebenza will tell you it's all the knife you'll ever need for the rest of your life, and they may be right. For me I own 2 Camillus EDC's and I'll probably buy some more as needed, but I have no desire to own a Sebenza. So it's really your call and what's important to you. My suggestion, get both. ;)

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. The Camillus EDC may very well be the best knife for the money on the market today. Get one and you will not regret it. A top notch piece, designed by a top of the line designer, from a top drawer company, for a rock bottom price.

You'll still have close to 300 bux left to get a dandy custom piece later on if you wish. Like others have stated, Sebenzanistas will drop in here and tell you that the CR piece is the end all be all of the knife world, and they may very well be correct. I don't know, as I have no desire to own one. That is just my opinion. As an EDC owner, btw.

The Outdoor Edge Paragee ain't bad either.

Another Ralph design. Construction is similar to the EDC. Fit and finish are just as good.

If it is between a Sebenza or the EDC I say EDC.

IMHO the two knives are not comparable, the Sebenza is in a whole different class. If you don't want to spend the money on a Sebbie an axis lock 940 would be an excellent choice as would a spyderco lum chinese folder.

The EDC's are very nice knives, but do not compare to the Sebenza in my opinion. I have 2 of the D2 EDC's and they are great knives for the money. The Sebenza is clearly a better knife. I only have one and that may be all I ever buy, as they are pricey. I don't think you could go wrong with either to be honest. Both companies have great warranty departments (from what I have read on the forums, haven't had QC problems with either) so if you ever have trouble with either they will take care of you.

I have 2 of the 154CM EDC's and a small wood sebi in damascus.

Not a fair comparison!

The EDC is the Honda, solid and good.

The Sebi is the Rangerover crossed with a Ferrari! Tough as hell, well made and very high performance.

If you want one knife, the Sebi it is. If you want a very good knife for little money, the EDC it is.

The small sebi is a lot of money. But arn't all the finest things in life?:)

I have owned both, and carry the small Sebenza every day. The EDC was traded. Both are great knives, so it's really a personal decision.

Which design appeals to you the most? How much are you willing to spend? Which feels better in your hand?

For me, the Sebenza is as close to perfect as I have seen in a folder. It feels good in my hand. The EDC, while nicely done, just didn't work in my hand well. Good luck on your choice.

Paul

I have both. The Sebbie came first. The EDC was bought because of the reviews -- and at that price I couldn't resist. My way of looking at it is that if you can afford the Sebbie, you might as well have both. They are very different and you'll enjoy each of them. sR

edit: I just read Paul's post and I agree -- the Sebbie is more comfortable in that size. One thing I love about the EDC that I haven't seen mentioned is that action -- that knife just flies open with the flick of a finger. Great fun.

I'm working on this question, I couldn't deside between a Talonite EDC or a Sebenza. Playied with both at Tulsa's G/K Show (Oct)
(Two great guys! let me play with there Sebenza's, and one guy had a
420 EDC), The EDC seemed small, Don't really have a thing for recurves
iether, but The feel of opening that first Classic......(The Reg. did NOTHING for me) the feel of that was wonderful!

Got a pretty good deal on "For Sale" board....so a Large Classic
is on it's way, If I don't like it enough, I can probably sell
at a a small loss and Next time I answer this question, I'll have
more first-hand info.

Best of luck!

As long as you're considering an EDC and willing to spend Sebenza-type dollars, may I suggest saving a little longer and getting the real deal -- a Darrel Ralph EDC? :D

If you are thinking of spending $300 on a Sebenza... and are considering a Talonite blade for an EDC, why not think about spending a little more for a true handmade custom EDC that is as bulletproof as the Sebenza... and can be had with many options and/or blade steels? I love my Sebenzas (still have one large and one small... sold my other three), but I like my TNTs by Tom Mayo much better as an EDC. (Can't beat Talonite for every day use...) (And... he builds them so you can flick em once and a while if you choose to! Don't void your Sebenza warranty by flicking your Sebenza...)

Read what Tom says about hard use here:

I've got a 154CM EDC I'm probably going to give to a buddy at work. They're nice for the $$$, but I can't even IMAGINE why you'd mention them in the same sentence as a Sebenza.

That said, I traded out of my small Sebbie -- I just plain didn't like it. Nice enough knife, just not for me. I'd pick (and did!) a BM750 over a large Sebenza any day. Wish Benchmade would try making the equivalent of a small Sebenza.

I have a small classic Sebenza that I carry with me everday. I have no experience with the other knife but the Sebenza is a very good knife. I would say go with it.

Wow! :D

I think here's the answer to question I asked earlier today.

(And choosing 750 leaves little over $200 to be spent to other knives... ;):))

FWIW, I'll second your decision on the Pinnacle. Mike gave you some excellent advice. The 750 really leaves nothing to be desired in a rather large, tactical type folder. And your savings would buy you, say, a Spyderco Viele, an EDC, and a CRKT M16 13 LE or Mil. I'm not slamming the Sebenza at all - great workmanship and quality materials - and I've only handled them at shows. Just don't care for their style or appearance at that price point, and I can afford one if I wanted it.

Hello K, given the choice between the 2 knives you mention...I think you can guess I'd go with the sebbie {I emailed you 2 links of sebbies at good prices yesterday}.

I too am a MAJOR fan of Tom Mayo's TNT. I carry one every day. I own 3. I agree wholeheartedly with Michael's {C4}post above. While I feel it is a natural progression to choose a folder in the lower price range {100ish}, then you move up to sebbies, then customs like the TNT. It is rare to find a person willing to jump from a camillus {while these are very nice knives, my son has one} to a TNT. I feel it is just human nature. It is quite expected as well. I myself could not justify the jump from 100.00 to 400.00 and more overnight. It was a natural progression, as your tastes become more refined, you are willing to spend more cash to satisfy those tastes.

If you can see your way to a TNT, by all means go for it, you'll never look back. But personally I enjoyed the journey to the TNT myself. The richer from experiencing other blades. For me, The TNT is my Holy Grail of folders. Contentment after a long search. The sebbie is the best "semi-production" {or whatever} folder on the market. The only way to get more for your money than a sebbie is to go custom. If you do not go custom today...you will:D.

Good Luck.:D
