Am I the only one here who can't seem to get the search function to work? At first, I was told I need to be more specific. Ok, I will use the name of the knife. Can't get more specific than that!

Then they said to limit my search. Ok, I set it to only search in this subforum and only search posts for the last month (pretty limited query if you ask me, but nobody did!) with at least 6 replies.

Still nothing!

I am really getting frustrated with this and paying for a membership makes it that much worse! When it comes time to renew, I think I won't unless the search starts working better.

And as for how large the forum is, I am a member of a few extremely large forums and othat than the occasional glitch, they have no problems with the search feature.

hehehehehe...... I understand your frustration. I run about 5 searches per day. I'm lucky if a single one works. My searches are pretty basic too.

Well, it wouldn't be so bad if any of the suggestions made to me thus far actually worked. I have tried everything and the same page comes up everytime telling me that the page cannot be found.

I just want to know some more about the Camillus EDC without having to start a new topic which would seemingly add to the problem. I am sure it has been discussed to death here, I just want to know were!

The search function is the weakest part of this forum. It goes off of its feed if you have a general term in the search request. "EDC" and "Camillus" are both general terms. And, I don't recall this model being discussed much lately.

However, the EDC looks good to me: Framelock & AUS 8 blade are a plus. $30 delivered is a bargain. It seems small to me is my only reservation.

Best,

oregon

Actually, it only seems weak due to the tremendous amount of information contained on this site. If you cannot get it to work, you are doing something wrong- (like making too broad a search.)
QS should be along any time with his FAQ.;)

You are better off using the advanced options in a Google search, which can be narrowed down to a single web site address. It looks like this:

http://www.google.com/advanced_search?hl=en

Type in "www.bladeforums.com" in the "domain" field and you'll get this:

http://www.google.com/search?as_q=&...ch=www.bladeforums.com&as_rights=&safe=images
Note the site-specific switch at the end.

Note that hits drawn from the BF archive sections appear as lists of posts so you'll have to look scan down through the list to find the one you want.

It's hard to understand why they just can't limit the number of hits returned (100? 200?) like other places do if that's the problem, but it is what it is. At least we can work around it.

Rat - What exactly did you type into the search engine to get those results?

Ditto. How exactly is posting that you can do it but I can't supposed to help? And as for the FAQ, I have read it and re-read it and tried every concievable combination I knew to try and come up with the same results everytime.

The Google thing is a good idea. I will give it a shot.

The titles only option worked for me. Too bad it leaves out a lot of good EDC threads. I'll try the Google option.

the problem is with the word "EDC" it gets mentioned in pretty much every thread on the forum. That is why searching the entire posts fails, too many results.
