Hey guys,

i'm in the market for a 3" folder and i've been rather enchanted with Darrel Ralph's frame lock designs, if I had the money i'd probably have him handmake me my dream Apogee, but i'm a bit low on the budget so...

Camillus EDC in 154CM vs Outdoor Edge Paragee in AUS8A

which would you choose and why? try to focus more on the actual design than price and blade steel - in my opinion both 154CM and AUS8A would be more than i'd need for the applications I have in mind for this knife, and I can afford either one.

Any help would be appreciated.

Here's a pic of both the Paragee and the EDC as well as the Kershaw Vapor (K Onion design).

I absolutely love the EDC and do not regret ever buying it. I have both the 154CM and the 420HC version. I recently compared mine to the Paragee, which I found to be actually sharper than my EDC 154CM, so I bought one. To be honest, I like them both, but I tend to prefer the shape of the EDC a bit more.

Fit and finish are excellent on both. Construction is similar. Both use decent blade steels. I don't think you could go wrong with either. I find the EDC is more comfortable to me, but I am sure that isn't true of everyone. I have both and alternate both on a regular basis. Which do you like the looks of better?

Paragee! ! Is it just me or is that knife practically a carbon copy?

I would go with the EDC. Amazing lock up and well... BETTER STEEL!:p

Both knives are practically a copy ... by the original designer himself. Actually, I think the Paragee was collaborated first.

El Cid's picture begs the question: How do the EDC and Paragee compare to the Kershaw (Ken Onion) vapor?

I do wish that Kershaw offered an upgraded steel version of the Vapor (hint...hint...)

Very similar pieces in form and function. Pick the one that feels best in your hand since you said bladesteel isn't really an important factor for your purposes. Enjoy!!

hey there, young cutter i was in the same position as u quite some time ago run a search. coz i posted a similar topic before. i ended up with the edc. given a choice ill have both.

I have recently been trying to make the same choice. The picture is a great illustration of the similarities of these knives, but does anybody know how they compare in terms of folded thickness? I really don't like "bulky" knives, are they all pretty thin?

I can't speak for the Paragee or the Vapor as of yet, but the EDC is overall a thin piece. It is really comfortable to carry and the clip looks awesome.
Good luck on your decision,
MAtt
I can't wait to get a vapor myself.

Both are nice. The clip doesn't come off on the Paragee. I like the design of the Paragee much better.
