My Dad, now ninety years old,(at the end of WW2) brought home a Camillus Folding Machete, from the South Pacific. I'm a antique military rifle collector, but know little about military edged weapons.
This is a folding blade machete, marked "Camillus" on the blade, it has black plastic grips, the blade is 10 inches long and the overall length is 15 1/2 inches.
What do I have?

You have a Post 1942 folding "bail out" machete. These were made to replace the Collins #18 Bowie/machete(called the V-44 in error) in the Army Air Force survival kits.

These were made by a number of companies both foreign and domestic. Camillus and Cattaraugas are two of the most easily found, with prices in the $50-75 range for nice ones, give or take a few dollars.
