I have a knife made by camillus. It is a hawkbill style knife in mint condition with bail and frosting. frosting on blade reads "TWISTER Wire connector Ideal 35-286 Knife", with the image of a wire connector. on left side of blade is stamped "Camillus new york USA" on the opposite side it is stamped "1". It has brown delin handles and brass liner lock. It is mint, never sharpened or used. Can anyone give me an approximate date of manufacture and/or approximate value?
thanks

Hey MM.. I use one of those at work almost daily. Actually, mine is a model 1B, I think, but it's the same old pruner blade. Ideal is a company that makes wire nuts (connectors) so your knife was probably a give-a-way as some sorta promotion. Klein (Electrician) Tools also sells the Camillus model 1 with their own name on it. Pruners as a rule just don't command high prices. You'd be lucky to get $15 bucks for yours. But it is an interesting brute of a knife.. and the best one made for the job it is intended for (stripping heavy electical cable).
