Who imports Camillus and Becker Knives into Australia. A Kabar brand USMC knife is easy to find here. But I would rather have a Camillus USMC. Guys in the Forums seem to prefer them.

Thanks Henri, I may have to resort to an overseas purchse. we don't have much here really. I ordered 3 knives from Quensland from an company up there who took the cah and have never sent a damned thing. There were lots of promises now they wont return my emails or calls. They advertise on the net as being able to get anything B/S. I have never had a problem with a purchase I have made fro the US. Credit goes to the yanks.

Gee, I'd love to have one of those skeletonized ARC LITE knives. I have asked a couple of Adelaide dealers to get them in, and they say the knife is not in the catalogue. Any ideas, guys? Are Camillus just not importing this knife into Australia? I hate to deal over the internet unless I really have to. What are peoples experiences with knifecenter.com? Do they deliver?

I have ordered from Knifecenter about 6 times over the last 3 years and have always got my knives. Customer service can be a bit lacking at times but the price makes up for it. Generally they may take a while to fill the order if the stuff isn't in stock and they seem to have problems responding to emails.

Usually wait 2 - 8 weeks for an order with 3 weeks being about the average if everything is in stock.

Generally, I can get the knives at half the price of the equivalent in Aust. Also can usually buy what is not here at all.

Recentlt bought a Spydie Military for $112US which is $224AU plus have to pay freight of about $20US = $40AU.

I usually order for freinds and more than one knife/tool etc so the freight costs are lower.

Assuming it was only the military, the price would be $260AU. The price at the outdoor shops is currently $425.

At these prices you can afford to make a few mistakes. The only downside is that you can't play with them before deciding but I think that just adds to the excitment of waiting. Also forces you to do some heavy research into the products before buying.

WARNING: don't get to greedy on your orders as when the amount gets too high ( $500 ? ) or too many, Customs start taking a closer look and charge you import duty plus GST. Still works out cheaper but is extra you can avoid.

Only happened once with $1000 order and a freind of mine with other non-knife merchandise.

Hope this helps

Henri

I have ordered lots of stuff from US Cavalry, Cabelas and Guncraft Sports. Every order over $250 Australian had attracted tax. Last order I got a few months ago was a US$92 holster. Because it was leather I had to pay an extra $50 to have it examined by some quaranteen mob here. The holster ended up costing nearly $300 by the time I got it. Something to think about if the knife scabard is leather. US Cavalry have lots of knives. I have only ever ordered one knife from them and that was with other stuff. I pay extra for air freight and usually get it in about five days!!!!!. I will check with a mate of mine who orders stuff for Great Outdoors here in Sydney. He may know who thecamillus importer is. Zen Imports in Sydney import stuff like Cold Steel, CRKT etc. Maybe they do Camillus. I will let You guys know.

Hey guys,

I'm in New Zealand and sell the BKT and some CUDA from my website - www.knifezone.co.nz - basically there was no dealer for Camillus in New Zealand, so I took it up! :)

Let me know if I can help - and there is also a custom knife show in Auckland on July 27th and 28th if you're in town...

Cheers,

Well actually, I have seen these several times in the shops and all of them have had surface rust and this is in the shop. They are also considerably lighter than the Kabar. The quality just does'nt seem to be in them. I asked about this in a thread and those that posted preferred the Kabar. In the end I did buy a Kabar and have been quite happy with it. In the US the Kabar only sells for about $40 US and are considered inexpensive. This bunch http://www.akc.iinet.net.au/AKC.html sell them for $127 Aus. although I must admit I've never ordered from them.
That was a good tip about knifecentre, I was glad to see some useful info from Australia. I wonder if leather sheaths on knives attract Quarantine?

I've ordered a BK7 and an EDC from knifecenter with no problems. Knives arrived in 2-3 weeks. EDC had been opened by customs but still let through - and this was post Sari Club bombing.
