I'm thinking of buying a folding camillus knife I don't want a tanto. I don't own any of them or know anything about them except that they are made in New York.

Camillus made good knives. A little more information on the model/type you are buying might be helpful if you are looking for comments or recommendations

Camillus went out of business in '07 and was purchased by Acme United Corporation. They started re-issuing knives under the Camillus brand in about '09.

Very few Camillus knives are made in the USA at this point. I have one - a Barbarian fixed blade - but most that I've seen are made in China or Taiwan, if that matters. They have some nice looking designs, and are using AUS8 and VG10 on many of them, but I have no experience with any of their current folders. I consider Camillus in its current incarnation as a competitor to SOG, CRKT and Boker Plus, in that the designs are cool but not necessarily remarkable in terms of materials or functionality.

i have the beast and the cuda, the beast is a better blade steel, but its very bulky and the liner lock seems too small for the size, the cuda is only $30 bucks or less and aus 8, the cuda is fun to wrist flip open, but i wouldnt really use it for much more than basic slicing

if you have $30 bucks to blow and can still buy another knife later, pick up a cuda just for fun and see what you think of the new camillus, otherwise if youre looking to get something to be an EDC, you can get better quality with something like a spyderco or many others for not much more money

I picked up a Camillus Hustle today for the sake of giving them another chance, I gotta tell you, I'm diggin' it so far. Its got a nice little recurve on the blade, AUs-8, lock is solid, full steel liners. Here are some awful pictures to kind of give you an idear. And I got mine for under $25

Plenty of the 'real' ones available at auction sites. Something to think about?

Sorry, I don't know much about their modern folders. If I were purchasing a pre-'07 Camillus knife just to say I had one, I'd be looking at their fixed blades like the Camillus Becker knives and their military knives.

The new mirroring Wil Zermeno' s azrael model is carbon fiber n d2 according to website. Looks interesting
