camillus at one point produced a aprox 5" yellow and bone handled lockback trapper, anyone know where a guy might purchase one

Mate, I have one of these fine knives in my Camillus
"Yello-Jaket" collection. I found it , after much searching,
on E-bay NIB. There were two versions of this knife.

One was a smaller copperhead and the other a large
trapper. Both are excellent knives that were discontinued
long ago. So to find one you'll have to go into the secondary
market and be paitient while looking. It took me a year to find
mine.

Sorry to say that due to the tactical knife craze a lot of very good
knives have been forced off the market.

hey thanks for the info tightwad, I will indeed keep looking, I have 3 of the larger yellow handled trappers, 2 I use 1 new in the box, however I love these knifes and I have 4 boys I would like to give 1 to....maybe something will turn up...thanks again

Mate, I too have 4 sons , now all grown, that when they were
10 I gave each one a Camillus military camp knife to learn with.
All still have and use this knife from time to time so I understand
the goal. If I find this knife you are looking for I will post on this
forum for you to find so keep an eye out mate.

Good hunting........

Tightwad is right about manufactorer's concentrating on tacticals and combat style knives. This yellow jacket we're talking about: Is it a model 716 with the leather sheath? Kinda large hunter, with locking blades, leather sheath, 4 1/2" long, thong hole in the handle, or something else?

that is correct Gr8Scout, it is the camillus yellow handled trapper model # 716, great little knife, I like alot of the tacticals to but you cant beat the old style trappers, I like the locking function of this knife, because I do use some of my knifes as tools, you dont have to worry about the blade closing on your fingers when your working with the knife...thanks for your reply Scout.....Blade53
