Camillus Machax and a New Sheath

So I picked up one slightly used Camillus Machax mostly because it came packaged with some oddball sheath and I wanted to play with it because I had an idea or two. Had to consult the High Priest of Machaxiness (Bladite) about the sheath and I agree it's probably off a cold steel something or other but who cares, There's another Machax in the house.

My first though on opening the box and grabbing like the greedy gnome fiend I am was, Wait a minute.........what the funk and wagnells???? This thing is heavy. Heavier than it's brothers for sure and it's pretty sad that I am so familiar with them that I can grab one and know right off which era it is.

How about 1/4" of Whackax?

Well it does fit and work but I've been goofing with a new design based partly off the RBK sheath I am still playing with. So this is what I came up with. I like it, It is very quick to deploy and built oh I would say maybe slightly better than this thing it came with wherever it came from.

damn...1/4'' of chopping goodness! I bet that's a batoning monster! I also like that new sheath....maybe the best looking option for a 4 sheath I have seen so far. I'm not looking forward to working out the logistics of kydex-wrapping a 4 if and when I ever get one, I bet it's a nightmare.
 
If you do a full pancake style use the 9 or you will have trouble getting it out. Lol ask me how I know.

yeah, recurves are a PITA. I have done a couple smaller knives that are recurved.... BLEH! I know why AZ went with the top-break style on his kydex 4 sheaths!
 
Wow! Well I love that sheath, it looks like the perfect machax sheath! This might be the sheath I buy if I ever get a machax.

That's an old cold steel gurka kukri sheath the new ones are kydex. I have one as well.
 
Such a sick looking sheath! Makes me want to buy a bk4 now... nice work! :thumbup:
