I now have in front of me a buck 315, Camillus and a Case riggers knife. All made by Camillus. I have three questions I was hoping somebody could answer

1. Any way to tighten up the marlin spike on the Camillus? It's loose a bit on this one.
2. I'm not aware of all the design and engineering specifics w folders so hopefully this makes sense. The buck has a solid mainspring. Both the Camillus and Case have a split mainspring. I have read that the buck version shares the spring between blade and spike and never to open both at same time as it may break. On the other two knives is each spring separate? Can blade and spike be opened at the same time? Not sure why you'd need to do that just curious
3. Why do only the buck versions have the saw cut Delrin handles?

Red,

The black sawcut delrin has been the standard scale material for all 300 series Bucks for a number of years. I guess Cami didn't want to copy that on there named knives. There are four versions of yachtsman knives with Buck stamping on the tangs, all were made by Camillus. The later version, with no bolsters, had split backsprings. One of there uses might have been to help prevent the spring problem you spoke about. But why would someone try to open both at the same time anyway.

Do a history search here or come over to the Buck forum and search 315s for more Buck information

300Bucks

These survived the ordeal. All stamp Buck on the tang but made by Camillus, there actually is a fifth version with a solid smooth black scale. No rivets or pins showing. Oldest lower left, next is bottom right, then the no bolster with solid spring and most recent is the split spring.
