I've already searched for this answer so I apologize if I'm overlooking an existing thread.

I gave up on a set of Camillus micarta scales last night on that popular auction site when the price went higher than I wanted to pay. My impression is that these don't come up for sale all that often, so this may be a difficult question to answer.

I know what the auction went for, but what is the going rate for the Camillus micarta?

Or maybe a better question is how much would you pay if you saw them for sale?

**Note: I do not own a set already nor am I trying to drum up interest or solicit buyers ***

there is no "rate" as most people are keeping their bucket of them :)

i get the impression they just didn't make/sell that many. as well, i think most of the ones for sale are being taken off knives that have them.

comparing to KaBar's price, $40-50 would be fair, esp if you really wanted them.

unless you are some kind of collector fan boy :D there's not much point.

the bucket is the bucket of my ancestors and is made of finest unobtanium. so about $45 ;) shipping is $$$

Those were mine for sale last night, I was kinda thinking they might bring a little more but i wasn't unhappy with the take. I've never in the last year seen another set for sale. The Ka bar ones are much nicer, more comfortable I mean.

That's pretty much what tempted me to bid higher, but in the back of my mind I knew I could get the Kabar micarta for less.

I was willing to pay a bit more for the looks/ novelty but had to stick to my price. Not to say if the cash was flowing a little more freely I wouldn't pull the trigger.

Glad you got a fair price for them though. I had a feeling the seller was a member here.

One meeeelllion dollars. :D

Seriously, I wouldn't pay more than Ka-Bar pricing.

Yes, but it's "want what I can't have factor" I think.

They just look so purty..... I mean manly. Real butch and all.

Dude the fact that they're not all that comfortable is a mind-killer. They're so cool looking. But KA-BAR's micarta is COME-FAY.

Yeah it was all sexy sitting in my safe right next to that BK1 and BK10, It all had to go though. And now I have a Fiddleback enroute.

I was going to bid at the last second on the brute but you have to re sign in once a day and I forgot about that. I'm still ticked.

lol just the Cami scales in Guyon's photo are worth more than my entire knife collection.

Also, a BK7 with serrations??!?

Ha, I thought the exact same thing after I saw that photo.

Dang, I just looked at the price. Those went for more than 3x what I paid, but of course, I bought all mine years ago.

Well if you ever find yourself strapped for cash I'd be happy to take a few sets off your hands, at cost of course :D
