I have one of these which is a double lock back trapper and a good size knife.I have two questions for anyone who cares to answer.first what steel are the blades, and these have the hardest release on any lock back I've ever used is this typical for this knife? what would be a good cure for the problem.thanks to anyone who can help.

I believe the blades were made from 440 SS. As far as unlocking, they were a very "strong" knife. Maybe Will has some suggestions.

I have one of these knives in my "yello-jaket" collection. The lock on mine is stout but not that hard to close.
As sharp as the blades are on that knife I sure wouldn't want wimpy locks. OUCH!! I personally think
it's a darn shame that all the one hand wonder knives out today have caused good knives such as this one
to fall out of production. As to the balde steel I'd guess it the same as my camillus made buck 307 ....440A.
Some folk's don't like this steel but I fid that it's very good for everyday use. Enjoy.......

I agree with you, Tightwad, about the one hand wonders knocking traditional patterns out of the marketplace. Yeah, these 'ArcLites' and all the others are probably OK knives... but they lack soul. Tradition. Style. Class. Sorry, I'm not trying to start an argument here...
