Camillus new Bush Crafter knife

I like it except for the lanyard slot. Look how thin the material gets at either end!

+1 for Ben. The lanyard slot looks fragile. I'd hate to use it to drive in a tent stake.

I saw it in TK a few weeks ago and havnt been able to find any info on it at all, its a great design and I want to buy it. Not to worried about the hole, its not a great design though I highly doubt youll be able to snap steel and micarta with a baton or whatever. If Bear Grylls hit it with a rock it might break.

I saw it in TK too. Not sure that I care for it, but you never know until you see it in person.

I wonder how thick it is. I also notice they list it as a hollow grind. That's a REALLY low hollow grind.

It's probably ground on a wheel at the steep angle. If they aren't using a belt with a platen to get a solid surface, it will end up slightly hollow. Mora's are actually like that, until the first few sharpenings flatten out the bevel.

Id like to see Les Stroud using that instead of his disgusting signature series, since he decided to team up with a stinker like Camillus. I really dont understand why he made the awesome Temagami than those POS Camillus toys. He should have partnered with Buck to make affordable knives, hes only being using Buck in almost every episode anyway.

Just be glad that Camillus is having some stuff made in the 'states now! :)

I like the knife, just from the description and short video.
Good to see and hear that they afre doing some manufacturing again in the US.
A US made, 1095, nessie/bushcrafter scandi for 100 dollars.
Not bad.
Look forward to more info, and I bet I'll be buying one.

Thanks for posting the video. The lanyard hole doesn't look so fragile in the video as it does in the smkw photo. Tang thickness looks good too. I even like the sheath. The leather looks thick like it should be.

At first I thought the price was high but after seeing it in the video I'm ready to buy it. Lets hope it cuts like bush craft knife should.

Just a thought, SMKW is hardly ever as cheap as many other places on most brands. You may get a better deal elsewhere.

That's very good advice. They're not robbing anybody but they're pretty much always running on the high side. ;)

BTW, they're sure throwing a lot of mall ninja bait out in that video you posted jill, heathen, barbarian, tactical, black ops...etc... :D

They are but someome must be buying it. Look at the zombie line from Kabar, they keep adding new models so there must be demand for it. I think it's cheezy looking stuff.

The sad part is that Americans are spending their unemployment checks on that cheezy stuff made over sees instead of supporting their fellow American workers.

I'm happy to see Camillus making knives in USA again and to support that I'm going to buy this new bush crafter knife.

I made no opinion about the knives or their quality and place of origin. Only, what I posted about some of the names. Hope you enjoy the new bush crafter knife.

I agree that it's good to see Camillus make knives in the USA again. However; I think Entrek USA makes some of the finest knives available today and receives very little fan fare. This is the Forester model that can be had for under $150.00. Their Javalina is one of the best 4" factory produced fixed blades I've ever handled. The Falkiven Idun is my favorite but cost twice as much.

Everyone keeps saying Camillus, but all I hear is ACME.

I'll pass on this one.

Good to see USA on the blade though.

My thoughts at the moment as well, but I'm glad to see them taking a step in the right direction. :)
