I just bought a camillus pilot switchblade with strap cutter. the switchblade has a strong spring but it doesnt lock open all of the time. does any one out there know how to fix this??
now I went to theweb and found a picture of a knife just like mine but mine is in much better condtion.

I could write a book on fixing those things.
The locks are notoriously unreliable; shame about the broken blade.

I stole a picture off the net because I didnt have time to take one. mine looks brand new. I just didnt get a box with it. can you please tell me what to do about fixing this please??

They never came in a box.

Neither of us has time for me to expound on the intricacies of repair/adjustments of the MC-1 :barf:

I would need to examine it to even begin to know what is needed.
Fortunately I do still have some of the relevant spare parts!

PM me & I will give you my shipping address; I will SEE if I can improve it for you.

No Warranty Expressed Or Implied!

Please bear in mind that NOT all can be made to work correctly!
We made 3 knives at Camillus to ship 2.

The MC-1 Paratrooper's knife was one of the most difficult knives made by Camillus. There are two notches milled into the tang of the blade for the blade to lock open and one to lock the blade closed. They have to be in the precise location for the knife to function properly. Many of the defective ones that were not scrapped are in circulation and were probably sold as seconds. I just repaired one for a collector that would not lock the blade in the closed position. This required replacing the blade with a new blade that had the notches milled in the correct position. Most likely this knife never worked properly from the day it was assembled. I have repaired many MC-1s and they are very tempermental. If you ever owned an MC-1 or worked on one you will understand why Camillus introduced the 18 X-Ray to replace it.
Phil if you need any parts for the #2534 pattern let me know. Do you know who Camillus made this knife for without the shroud cutter and clevis? I just saw six of them that were assembled at Camillus.

It's an old auto design- sometimes it helps if you push the button and move your thumb off of it as quickly as possible. Sometimes the blades will rebound just enough to not lock up right if you still have pressure on the button when it opens.
