I purchased a Camillus knife online March 17th, and received a receipt by email. Since then the site is closed with no way to contact customer service. My bank account has not been charged for the amount ($67.94) so I am rather in limbo, not knowing whether to purchase the knife somewhere else and risk being double charged. Does anyone know the status of Camillus Knives, or how to contact them to make sure this order is not going to go through?

Wow. I can't believe they were still taking internet orders as late as March 17. Especially since the plant officially closed on Wednesday, February 28.

Scandler, I hope you're able to get your knife somehow, but my suspicion is that Camillus will NOT make good on this order.

Just curious: which knife did you order?

This information is very true indeed of any and all orders people have been placing on the Camillus Website. NO orders will be taken or processed on your credit card, but do keep an eye on your statements for a while longer just in case you see something charged - if you have made prior purchases from Camillus you will know what to look for on your statement.

Just an observation - How many of us see the LACK of COMMUNICATION in our society???? Could this be a sign of things to come??? That is one of the biggest things that brought Camillus to its knees, AMOUNG OTHER ERRORS.

Thanks for the information. I've already bought a similar Buck knife model elsewhere.

The knife I ordered from Camillus was the Granpa Lockback Stainless Steel.

Lack of communication in our society is a growing problem. My bank, for example, answers the phone by assuring me they are here to provide "the best customer service possible!" They have all kinds of passwords, etc., for my "protection," as they put it. But when I asked them to simply block this charge to my account, their reply was that they can't. Why not? Well, they just can't, that's all... In the meantime they're selling all my financial information out the back door to anyone willing to pay for it.

I say communication -- real communication -- begins with a sense of personal responsibility. And it's a lack of personal responsibility that's at the heart of this country's communication problem.

Anyway, thanks very much for your response.

Scandler, check to see if the purchase was actually rung up by an internet company, one that is still in business. It may say it on the reciept. You see, many companies like Camillus hire other companies--specialized companies--to run their websites, including ringing up the sales. So even though Camillus went dark, the internet company running its website is probably still around (which would partly explain why the site was still working after the company officially went closed). It may take some digging. Best of luck, buddy.

Can't speak for Camillus but I do know that Camillus ran the charges themselves. My guess is that if you haven't been charged yet, you won't be.

You can safely buy the knife off of another dealer (if they have one in stock). As of 03-21-07 there was only one person there wrapping things up. I left a message on the sales answering machine the first week of March. When the billing department called me on the 21st they said there is nobody in the sales department, messages and emails will go unanswered, they didn't know I was trying to get a hold of them.
