I dug out this stockman knife this morning and noticed something which I think is rather odd .
The knife is generally in good condition having had little or no use but while the sheep foot and main blade are shiny and obviously stainless steel the spay blade has a patina and I believe it's made of a carbon steel.I read somewhere that some of these knives were made up of odd left over parts and this seems to fit with that theory .

Ha ha, I'd call that a "Pinto". Nice find. I always appreciate curiosities. Any pics?

You are almost right. I seem to remember reading that they were made up shortly before the shutdown when Camillus was throwing together knives using up stock they already had in the plant. So they were kind of "left over" parts.

However, I've heard tell of knives which were made AFTER the shutdown, and those really were made of leftover parts.

Here's mine.
