I just bought this. I like scout knives, carbon steel, bone , etc so it's easy to see why i would like it. Brass liners and 3 lines of text so i think late 40s or early 50s? And no shields so what do i call it. I think it's only an engineer's knife if it has the us shields, but maybe im wrong. Any help would be appreciated.
As condition goes, idon't think it was ever really used. Some light scratches on the blade, no sign of sharpening, and the edges of the screwdriver and can opener are incredibly crisp. Idoubt it has ever turned a screw.

I haven't found the nomenclature to be chiselled in stone, but I've thought that a scout knife is a scout knife unless it's a variation that was issued to a particular type of military person.

Very nice, whatever it is.

I am the opposite of an expert when it comes to dating knives, but my guess would be 40’s to 50’s. Regardless, it’s a good acquisition. I picked up a couple recently and wow are they a solid built knife!

Does it look mid 40s to mid 50s to you folks?
Yes. About 1946-1956. It looks like a Camillus 14S11 which they called a Quartermaster knife. It's built the same as the Army Engineers Utility Knife, but without the shield.

Are the liners brass or steel?
