Anyone had a chance to handle this baby? heavy? lively? how does it compare, feel-wise, to other production bowies like CS laredo, Ontario HB, etc.?

I'm very interested in this bowie, but I just wanted to know what it feels like in the hand compared to other production bowies.

Thanks!!

I love mine! I can't claim a lot of experience with other large fighting bowies, but the Southwest is far lighter and quicker in the hand than I expected. The balance is perfect. It handles like a blade half its length. (And I mean that literally.)

I can compare it to the Becker Combat Bowie (9"), Combat/Utility (7"), and Creman (5-1/2"). Only the Crewman comes close to keeping up with it.

Likewise I have the Paragon versions of Larry Harley's Battle Bowie (8-1/2") and Slim Battle Bowie (7-1/2"). As much as I love the balance of the Slim Battle Bowie it is still slightly heavier and slower than the Southwest.

If I had to pick a knife for a real fight the Southwest would be it. And I expect it to prove handy as a general wilderness blade too.

This is far and away the finest production fixed blade I've handled so far. Buy one and enjoy!

4 Ranges,
The Camillus/Fisk OVB Southwest Bowie is one hell of a knife. The balance is nearly perfect. This is the closest factory knife, fit and finish wise, to being a handmade custom. Buy one you can't go wrong!
Good collecting!
