Camillus talon experiences?

Do any of you outdoor gurus use a camillus talon or similar custom design (Simonich) as your primary blade when out in the great outdoors. Obviously they're not choppers but 99% of the stuff I use a knife for is not chopping. I'm really intrigued by how great talonite is supposed to be and the talon seems to be a nice general purpose blade shape. Anyway, I'm looking for some real world experience in the great outdoors with talonite. I'm looking for more info than how great it cuts cardboard without needing resharpening. Thanks.

I have a Tom Mayo talonite hunter that I've used for a few years. Primarily, I like using it as a game skinning blade as it will cut, cut and cut! Edge holding is something else. Also, it is easily re-shaprened. I maintain the edge with a round steel. As a using blade not used for chopping I think that its' great. I have just heard that the edge won't hold up for chopping, I don't know that for sure myself. I use a small, belt hatchet for chopping or a ax.
Tom Mayo's workmanship is second to none,he is a long established maker. My two cents!

I have a Camillus Talon. It is one of the 154CM versions, though, so I can't comment on Talonite.
Mine has not been used or carried extensively, but I can say that it is a great design, of practical size, with great ergonomics (for me, anyway) and very versatile.
You might try posting on the Camillus forum, and maybe doing a search of that forum for threads with "Talon" in the subject line.
I don't recall having read anything negative about the Talon at any time.

I'll second OwenM's comments almost exactly. I got a 154 version when they first came out, and used it camping/hiking all spring, summer, and fall. No complaints at all.
