(Sorry. This is a duplicate thread. Dunno how to delete this...) Hi. I'm in the trades and just bought this knife at a local show. The knife has black handles, marked USMC, and is stamped with 892 on the right side of the partially serrated clip point blade.

Any idea of date manufactured and what kind of steel was used?

Thanks, Joe in Walnut Creek, CA

I am sorry, but the blade you describe draws a blank with me.
It's a USMC folder with black handles?
The only folders I know of would have been the old MIL-K folders;
You know, the all stainless steel Swiss Army Knife/Boy Scout type, 4 bladed pocket knife with a bail/shackle. Some of which were marked "USMC" besides the usual "US" stamp on its handles. I think its called the Marine Corps Camp Knife #1763.
