Are the older Camillus versions of the BK-7 (the utility/crewman, or whatever they were called) necessarily worth any more than the Ka-bar variant? I have had one for some time now and have wondered about that. With the demise of Camillus I've seen some of their other models increase in value.

Well you can look at completed auctions and get a pretty good idea. I think they are worth a bit more. The Camillus BK7/9 were a little thicker and the handle scales were more blocky and textured. So there are a few differences and there's some demand for the old style and of course a very limited supply of Camillus knives in mint condition.

depends on the market, esp used...

if it's a model they aren't making anymore and someone HAS to have it? maybe worth a bit more.

otherwise, for a lot of people who say, want something like a Campanion? not so much.

the Magnum Camp for instance, will be remade shortly, so i expect to see used prices plummet. some people might prefer the old one to the new one, so at that stage, it might be worth a touch more, but as earlier, with current production of new models, with warranties, and such? not so much. collectors are funny people though :)

RABII,

Agree with Bladie; values for knives, et al, are squirry at best. It's always supply and demand and especially who is behind the demand. We get a hundred requests a month asking for knife values. We always refrain as it's not our call. It always has been the marketplace that determines what is hot and what the cost will be to play... and that changes like WNY weather.
If you want to get a good education on collecting knives and their values, visit Bernard Levine's forum over in General. It's a real eye opener.

You can expect to get a bit more for the Camillus version of the BK7 if it's in mint shape.
As AF posted above, you can look at completed auctions and get a pretty good idea of just how much.

This particular blade always seems to heft a pretty good selling price. Limited production perhaps?

Camillus Becker Extreme S30V

Camillus Becker Extreme S30V

because it's made of S30V, it's much more expensive than regular steel
