Has anyone handled any of the new Camillus knives? I've seen them online and the materials and basicdesign seem good but I worry about build quality / quality control onanything coming out of China.
VG10 steel with G10 scales sounds good but I'd like to hear from someone who has had a little pocket time with one. I guess I'm most concerned about the lock up and quality of the washers.
Thanks in advance!

Camillus in China? Last thing I heard was that the production was in Spain these days (also lesser quality). I did hear something about them being made in China, and then shipped to Spain and being packaged there (and labelled as such). VG-10 is not a Chinese steel though... Or do Chinese manufacterers use this as well?

VG-10 is a Japanese steel.

It seems up until 2011 it was only allowed to be used on knives that were completely made in Japan.

Now it looks like it is being shipped to China for use in knives made there.

The Boker Plus Epicenter is an example of this. I don't know of any others so far.

Browning Tactical Hunter

I've handled the newer Camillus stuff. I'd say it's on par with SOG's Japanese stuff - good, but I wouldn't say it's great. Handles don't feel nearly as cheap, though. No usage, it was at a rep showcase I was invited to for a local knife chain.

I have no idea what the fancy-pants coating does, if anything, but I guess marketing points are marketing points.
