Browsing EBAY saw some traditional looking fixed blades from Remington. They look just like Western which I believe was made by Camillus. Am I correct? Have they been sold and outsourced to China like Schrade? Any idea what type of steel Western used in their fixed blades? edit - looks like 420HC. Is that an ok steel?

Camillus did make lots of Remington knives in the last 20 or 25 years.
420 HC is good if you like shiny blades. As far as edge holding goes, well, .... its good if you like blades with shiny edges. Collectors love it because it polishes up real well, but there are lots of better choices out there for actual using knives.

Camillus did make lots of Remington knives, BUT there are Remington fixed blades that are made in China now, so make sure you know what your getting.

Camillus made knives in 420HC are perfectly good using knives.
