Camillus Western Bowie W49

Hi everybody..I was just wondering if these were worth considering? http://knifecentre.com/kc_new/store_detail.html?s=WW49
The new version is stainless steel, the older one was carbon. I'd probably be looking at the new one as it's easier for me to get being in Australia etc.
Anybody know how thick they are? Do they stand up to reasonably hard use etc?

The W49 is a very nice knife.Mine is an older one in 440C. Current ones are 420HC IIRC. I would look around for an older one on ebay or some such place..

I've had a few of the Western Bowie W49, and they make for a nice knife if:

1. you shorten the brass hand-guard (where it starts to bend).
2. you round-off the wood handle (if you get the version with the "blocky" handle).
3. you slim-down the WIDE blade alittle (take some of the apex of the spine off).
