Camillus workers lose hope of plant reopening

After reading that, it makes me lean more to the idea they won't reopen.
I just don't understand why the company won't respond to phone calls, and with CS wanting their equipment back, it seems like they don't even care.

Camillus Cutlery President James Furgal has not returned telephone calls from The Post-Standard seeking comment on the strike or on rumors that the plant will close.
This kinda sums up the whole situation. The owners don't feel they have to let anybody know what's going on. And apparently, they are right.

The two sides have not met since June 19.
The failure of management to attempt to settle this strike shows the class that Camillus Cutlery really has.

People have approached the company and the union about buying the plant, but they were rebuffed by Camillus Cutlery's owners, Valenti said.
Okay, they won't sell the place and they won't open it. What do they want?

Obviously, this is a very trying time for us. They don't want to talk to us - fine. Just let us go on with our lives. To let us hang for two months now shows the class of people we are dealing with. We are striking and at this point, I'd have to say that we don't even want to come back. We would but that possibility seems so remote now. It just makes no sense what they are doing. They continue to lose customers due to non-delivery. This doesn't seem like a company who wants a future in the knife manufacturing business. If there are any owners or management or bank execs reading this - I appeal to you to do the right thing and either open up talks or let us get on with our lives.
