Camillus Yellow Jacket knives?

Well for starters, the steels are different... Queen uses D2 on most of their slipjoints. I believe the Camillus yelo-jacket series are some kind of stainless steel. If the yelo-jackets came in 1095, I would have every model by now.

I believe that the Yelo Jakets are 440A stainless - good but not to the level of D2.

Mongo, you may want to look at Moore Maker - they recently added a few patterns that (IMHO) are made by Camillus - yellow delrin handles, and 1095 carbon blades, reasonable prices.

Moore Makers premium line is made by Queen, with 1095 and bone handles.

Thank you gentlemen for the information. It is sometimes vert difficult to determine what steel is used. This is unlike the Tactical knife market!

My EDC is one of the Mooremaker yellow handled knives (a stockman) and I love it. Not sure if the quality is any different frm a Camillus since it is made by them but it is a neat little knife, no complaints from me! Quality is lower than Queen though IMO. Good luck in choosing and don't forget to let us know which one you buy and how you like it.

How'd I miss this thread??I collect Camillus
Yello-Jakets and thus far have them all.

The blade steel is 440A on all except for special
run made for SMKW about a year ago. They were 1095
carbon steel.

As to a comparison to Queen knives the Camillus
knives use 440A while Queen used 440C until
recently. Both are very good knives with Queen
getting the edge for steel and more handwork on the
knives. However, Queen is not well known or sold
widely much off the east coast (USA).

As far as Mooremaker goes....they also are good
knives.....at a price.
