Ok what are the opinions of this brand of folders? I'm lookin for inexpensive but not (cheaply made) something that will hold up and is worth the money.

I think that the Camillus brand of traditional folders fit your requirements of inexpensive and sturdy. If possible, I would inspect a couple specimens of the model that you want and choose the one that is put together best. I recently bought a yellow jaket premium stockman and yellow jaket large (4.25") stockman. Since it was an internet purchase, I couldn't inspect and pick the best one. Fit and finish was definately ok, nothing wrong to affect the overall performance.

I agree, some are good, and some look like they were made on a friday afternoon. Overall, a good working knife for the money.

I have a camillus cuda EDC, in D2 blade steel.

It's a great knife for a decent price. They seem to have a great price/performance ration, in my opinion.

A.G Russell has (had?) a range of Camillus slipjoints (tortoise shell celluloid) on clearance. I think you could get a Stockman for $20-30. He had a wide range: 2 blade jack, peanut. Looked like real bargains.

I have one of the A.G. Russell tortoise shell celluloid Trappers in 1095 steel. It is a well made knife, with fit and finish quite a bit better than the average Schrade.

You won't go wrong with one.

Try hitting some antique stores. I've had great luck finding older Camillus's, with carbon steel blades, for around $15 to $25. That old carbon steel takes a wicked edge, and holds it well, too.
Their newer models are nice, too, very durable and practical. Good selection, especially in their yellow handled line.
