Hello all,

I have been interested in knives for a long time and have made a few ok knives, but of late iv been spending alot of time on knife making and designing of blades and I would much like to take it firther, but for now Im working on a knife relating specificly to the combat art I practice and soon hope to teach, a camo finish will sute this knife down to the ground in my view, but Im not sure how to do this to best effect ??? (Im looking for the same style camo as my "Strider" and "T.O.P.S." knives, black and raw mettle).

I have limited capabilities being a poor amature knife maker so it might be an idea to get someone to do it for me, but I can get some access to a work shop, other than my guarage/garden, so would like to try it my self if pos. any info. about "tactical" blade finishes is well apreciated.

Thanks in advance

Strider does theirs like this:
1) Heat treat the knife. After heat treating a lot of stainless steel is darkened/blackened in color, so then they:
2) Sandblast the blackened color away to get back to bare metal, leaving some of the blackened color behind, giving a tiger stripe effect.

You could also use a baked-on spray like Brownell's in a variety of colors and patterns, then bake the knife.

hello,

Thanks, I thought I could utalise that staining, but I was'nt suer if it would be as simple as that !.

Thanks again
