Hi All, sharing a Camp knife I've just completed to pair with a recently built Utility/Hunter.

Blade is CPM154, flat ground with a slight convex edge. Guard is 416. Handle is the last of my stash of black burlap micarta, toughest synthetic I have ever used. Spacers are stainless, black fiber, black G10, and dyed and stabilized spalted maple.

Spine has been tricked up with domed jimping. Over all length is just shy of 13", blade is 8". Loveless style sheath completes the package.

Thanks for looking.

Beautiful Work!

Even though they are So Nice, id want to swing and chop with the big one.... :)

What is domed jimping? Is that female holes you pressed/burnished pinheads into?
Super Cool! Bet it feels great!

Thanks everyone.

The domed jimping is not difficult but does require a fair bit of extra time. The blade spine has 1/4" deep 3/32 diameter holes. The pins are turned from 1/8" pin stock. Heads remain 1/8 but the shanks are reduced to 3/32.

The pins are glued in with JB weld. I also file or turn a notch in the shanks for added security. Overcoming the hydraulic pressure to seat the pins can be an issue. I use my vice (soft jaws) to slowly drive them in. You really only get one shot, once they are in you won't get them out.

Clean up excess glue and leave it to set up. To finish off the domes I lay a couple of layers of masking tape over them and go over to the buff. The buff will wear the tape away from the domes and push it down between them. This allows you to polish the dome heads but not touch the finish on the spine.

Now you know as much as I do, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
