Hey guys,

I was just wondering if any of you have a knife just for food prep. while you're out camping. I use a Opinal No.8 with Olive wood handles, and stainless steel, or a Becker BK-15 for food prep. Do you guys do this, or do you just take one knife for everything? If you do what knives do you use?

One of the best knives I have ever used for food prep is a Spyderco Military.

A Spyderco Mule is one of the best I have used for a camp food prep knife.

That's interesting, because I was planning on using the Spyderco Manix II with Translucent Blue. I guess Spyderco knives are just naturally good at food prep.!

Mora 2000 for camp kichen and breaking down elk. Great profile, not overly thick, and easy to clean up.

I use a Mora Companion in the kitchen at home and while out in the woods. Not a fan of folders for food prep because they get gunk in all those hard to reach places ;)

I picked up a Junior by Spyderco, and plan on trying that one for food prep. I do currently have a cheapo santoku knife that stays in a bag with my other cooking supplies.

I have a Boye Basic 3 for food prep while camping etc...
I just used it last night to trim some fat off of a New York Strip Steak.
No areas to get gunked up, Easy to clean, And won't rust or patina.

that sucks....can't find one for sale anywhere, haha, that's a pretty sweet little knife....

mine right now is a kewshaw mini-skinner...and i'm looking to upgrade and teh izulas and the like aren't doing it for me...that one does though!

for food, i just use a mora, or a cold steel pendleton lite hunter. keep it separate from my other tools.

I usually bring a tub full of knives with me when camping just so i can use different ones in different situations. Camping is also "knife testing time" for me. LOL :D

I use several knives for food prep while camping. One that I originally was not sure about, but turns out to be pretty handy to have around is the Bladetech U.L.U. Not a bad price either....
