hello folks!
here is a camp knife made by juan gabriel rossi from argentina [Removed]
5160 steel, fully quenched, but with a softened ricazzo and tang.
blade lenght 21 cm (8+ inches) 6 mm thickness
overall 35 cm
guayuvira scales
shallow hollow grind. actually, it starts hollow, then it becomes flat and ends as a subtle convex edge.
flat clip.
its a modification from one of his knives, suggested by me

a little balance
its not fully horizontal because it settles on a concave surface so i had to push it a little to the butt.
plus the photographer wasn´t horizontal either jeje

i don´t know exactly the names in english of the machinery involved, but i think he starts with the band grinder, and then he emphasizes the radius of the plunge whit an angle grinder, first with grinder discs and after with flap discs

the plunge line is very similar to this one, though this last one shown above is more "dramatic".

the one from this thread is a reproduction of rossi, from one famous model of Alfredo kehiayan( one of the greatest knifemakers from the "old school" here in argentina, still very active by the way)
in this link you can see the wip of that knife.
just the pictures here

the others knifemakers, that you may know, that can do this kind of plunge lines are the cas brothers.
Greetings!

Hello Fernando!

A fierce and cool looking chopper - I really like the modifications you made! And yet another maker I have to check out... ;)

Best regards,
Alex

I agree with Adam, very interesting plunge. That has to be quite a trick to pull off.

Yes, juan is quite skillful with hollow grindings
By the way, i love your work too.
Best Regards
Fernando
