Camp Knife circa 1450

that is soooo cool....looks like good patterns have been around for quite some time......ryan

The knife is interesting, well made and well preserved.
The sheath is perhaps more interesting. Tooled leather
over wood...appears to be unchanged from the time
it was made....

The knife's owner was perhaps reminded of his heritage,
and inherent duty by the symbols/inscriptions on the
knife and sheath.

I suppose there are good reasons why, today, we don't
celebrate our family heritages as they did then.

Really cool Peter!

What you're seeing near the choil is engraving. It's a carbon steel blade.

If you are ever visiting NYC, the Met's arms & armor room is a must see.

I detect a strong spirit coming from that blade. Are you sure it wasn't made by Master Shiva Ki? :D
