Here is a camp knife I just finished for a gentleman in Kentucky:

1095 etched blade, flat grind, with orange Micarta scales and a Kydex sheath

Very beautiful knife and right up my alley. Particularly love how you shaped the micarta, very unique. Did you coat that blade? What was the final grit? Nice to see another leo!

Looks fantastic! I love that orange, and I think it looks great with that tan kydex.

What's the blade thickness, and is that a convex edge on the blade? It's probably the light playing tricks on my eyes, but it looks flat in the first picture and convex in the second.

Charli,
The blade is 1095 carbon steel, finished with a maroon scotch-brite belt (Not sure of the grit but I know Pop told me once: http://www.popsknifesupplies.com/) and then etched in vinegar. The etch gives it the Damascus-type finish. It's a very tough finish. If you get a blood stain, etc. you can put it on a wire wheel buffer and clean it without touching the finish.
Stay Safe

Nafunu,
The blade starts out at around 3/8" and I may loose a little in the etching process, but not much. Then there is a distal taper near the point. It's a flat grind all the way to the edge. When I put the blade in the vinegar, I coat the edge with 2-part epoxy to keep the acid from destroying the rather thin edge (about the thickness of a dime). After the etch, I put the final edge on with a 1 x 30 belt, then polish it with white buffing compound. The polishing gives a hair popping edge.
