Showing a size comparison photo a Fiddleback Forge Camp Knife next to a WAS GWB.
No scales so I can not give you weights.
The GWB is just here getting some pants fitted = no in the field stuff while it's here.
I decided to line them up from the plunge line of the blade so to show the difference in handle sizes as well as blade lengths.

WAS GWB vs it's genesis, the Bison.

Excellent thread Bud. After getting my hands on a WAS short muk I am definitely interested in pursuing more of Allen's work. It is great to see them next to a few FB models that I am familiar with - very helpful. That GWB is quite the knife.

You full edged tool collection I can only assume to be a glorious sight.

Glad it helps you out.

I lost count what I have. Been collecting knives since I was 9 yrs old. I'm sure my collection is larger than some but smaller than others.

Holly heck, I didn't realize it was that big. Now that is a knife ;)

Thanks for the great pics

I love comparison photos that show relative size against some better known models. My favorite is the Bison and Duke comparison photo. I suspected that those two are close in size, but now I know for sure.

Good idea for a thread. Thanks Bud!

Those are some cool pics!

I don't know why, but I think of the blade Billy used (when he went head to head with the predator) every time I see the profile of the Great White Buffalo. The GWB is bad ass.

I didn't really notice a difference in comfort per se...as far as hand comfort goes. The ergonomics of both are sublime to me. However, the Bison may offer a little bit more mental comfort, from the slightly more secure purchase the swelled pommel offers in tasks that create a good bit of inertia and / or centrifugal force.

There's nothing similar between the two except for OAL size and I dont think one model is better than the other. It's going to depend personal preferences.
The Bison has more belly on the blade and the handle's butt - the Duke is more of a spear point design and with more front end weight bias.

I 100% agree. Size is similar but these are two completely different animals. I love both of these designs.

So where do you think each would excel?

I'm by no means a expert. I speak more from a personal preference stand point. The blade shapes are two completely different types the Duke is more of a drop point and the Bison a straight back. As far as where each would excel.. that would depend on the user. I do think the Bison would be better at game prep.
