Looking at either a camp tramp or something else if suggested. Uses involved chopping wood, prying, and pretty much what ever else i need. Under 200$ is preferable.

So any other ideas besides camp tramp?

A Becker BK7 or BK9 Bowie would do the job nicely, and leave room in your budget for some other camping gear.

I second either of the Beckers. I have both the BK-7 and the BK-9. Well made, durable, relatively inexpensive.

I think the Camp Tramp is a great choice. For the money it donesn't get much better than that IMO. for a camping general purpose user.

I agree with powells85, for the money you cant go wrong with any of the Ranger Knives. I had Justin do a special run in Osage Orange and Cocobolo. Here's a sheath that I had made for a RD 7 in Desert Ironwood.

He refers to a particular style of khukuri (AKA kukri and khukri) sold by Himalayan Imports, which has a forum here at BF in the manufacturer's section. These are large, robust knives optimized for chopping. The Ang Khola ("AK") is particularly tough.
