My most recent creation, a coal forged camp knife. This one is made from some interesting materials.
oal: 15 1/2"
bl: 10"
Blade is forged from a 1970 Chevy Nova SS spring
Gaurd, spacer, and but cap are forged from a pre 1900 wagon wheel
The small spacer wood is a peice of Rose wood from El Salvador that one of my employees got for me and the rest of the handle is curly ash.
I have been testing this knife all weekend. I have done a lot of chopping and cutting, kind of extreme torture. The blade has held up very well, better than I had anticipated. There was a nail in on of the small logs I choped and did not realize it till I saw a spark on one chop. It left a small dent in the edge but nothing that was not easy to fix. I think the guy who is getting this will be very happy with the performance of the blade and the comfort of the handle.
Now to clean it up, epoxy it, and final tweeking.
Sorry for the crappy pics, do not know what is going on with my camera.
Thanks for lookin
