Hello,

I want to show you a camp knife I'll be hopefully trying sometime during the summer.
My intention was to make a very simple, tough, compact good wood chopper.

O1 steel, 4mm thick with convex grind, shaving sharp.

Opinions are welcome.
Thanks for watching

That's some thick cord on the handle. That or it is a small blade and you have tiny hands!

Interesting - looks more utility oriented than a lot of the offerings on your website.
will look forward to a review - with in use pics.

Thanks guys!

As soon as possible I'll make a review of it.
The main idea behind it is to have a rugged, short chopper with good edge retention.
The overall length of the knife is around 30cm, and as mentionned before is made of 4mm thick O1 steel, +/- 60HRC. Convex edges on both sides, and Sckapmetal, I have big hands: that's 6mm diameter climbing rope: cheap, reliable and veeeeery grippy.
I can't give you the weight because I don't have it with me right now

That's very cool. I've been thinking of a knife design very similar to that one. My idea was a knife that you could haft onto a stick and use it either as a knife or a tomahawk. Looks like you could do that with yours too. Are you selling these?

Thanks Shotgun.
Do you have a proto of your idea? Show us!
One of the reasons I usually use cord as handles and drill many holes is precisely because it's easy to remove it if you want to fix your knife if needed.

And yes, I sell them

Nothing final just ideas rattling in my noggin. Could you PM me with pricing on a knife similar to the one pictured?

Va27,
Thanks! I like you post; made me laugh with it.
Thanks again

Just look at that thing!

It's a serious working tool.

O1, always a good thing on a tool.

Kydex, so it won't find it's way out of the sheath and do you harm.

It's got a recurve for better bite when chopping, draw-knifing or pull cutting.

It's got a ginormus belly on the front for serious skinning, bark peeling and such.

It has a straight back for batoning, getting a spark and delivering blunt force trauma.

It has the broad flat of the blade for pounding (and slapping someone upside the head in a defensive scenario).

It has the 'triangle of death', of which the tanto enthusiasts are so enamored, for major defensive slashing.

It has the pointy pommel which could serve in a defensive role or as a rescuer's window breaker.

And finally, it has the orange handle. That alone could sell several to the 'orange geeks' on the board. Heck, some of 'em would just buy a hank of that rope!

Did I mention that I like it?

PM, I'd also like to know what something like that would be.

I think you are the first person that fully understands this design.

Nice! I didn't know it
Is it just a design or does it exist?
Let's say my style is more... primitive, or basic.
Thanks for sharing

I'm not sure if Dylan ever got around to making it. Yeah I agree yours is very different, it was just the blade shape that reminded me of the other one.
Just been looking on your site, some cool stuff, I like the Barvaz !

I really like the Barvaz too. That one I did it on the fly

I think it looks pretty good for a camp knife. It's a pretty unique design, too.
